We invite you for an unforgettably hedonistic stroll.

This culinary tour takes you from the charming alleyways of Rome’s historic city center to the bustling Trastevere neighborhood, just as the Romans gather on the cobblestone streets and piazzas to meet for aperitivo.

Rome’s aperitivo is a delicious tradition of food and drinks before dinner. To give you the full flavor of Rome, we include several stops at our favorite little spots where local food, wine and beer offer incredible tastes that keep us coming back.  On this luxury tasting you’ll amble through our itinerary of great restaurants, wine bars, and local eateries to experience a menu that changes with the seasons.

You’ll taste the best versions of classic roman fritti, local craft beer, gourmet meats, tasty red wines and more than enough to take this tour instead of dinner.

Our tours with Evan have been the stuff of dreams. Seriously. With his impeccable taste and depth of knowledge, a private tour of Rome’s best eateries and wines with him is indeed one to be remembered. He ensures you will have a fabulous time exploring venues that are second to none in quality, authenticity and ambience. It gets no better than this. We will be back for more!

A very informative and relaxing tour sampling excellent Italian food, wine, and cheese. The tour lasted almost 4 hours but was well worth it!

I normally will not take the time and effort required to write a tour review, but this is one that warrants an exception to my laziness. My wife and I visited Rome several years ago as a preamble to a cruise and fell in love with the city. We promised ourselves that we would return for a longer visit and fulfilled that promise only to know that we will return again. Rome is a beautiful and fascinating city with so much to do and see that it is overpowering. We have never been overly impressed with any of the tours we have taken in conjunction with cruises feeling that most were “adequate”, but not much beyond that.

On our prior visit, we searched the Internet and lucked out when we scheduled a couple tours with Dark Rome Tours. We found them to be very well run and used them again on this trip for a semi-private tour of the Vatican. We were not disappointed. On this visit we travel with our cousins, who had stumbled upon the “Food and Market Walk” with “Wine & Food of Rome” on the Internet (tripadvisor.com). I was ambivalent, at best for this tour because, although I like to eat, the concept sounding a bit peculiar to me and I am one inclined to stay with a known entity (Dark Rome Tours), which is a well-establish entity in the Rome tour market. I could not have been any more wrong. This turned out to be the best tour and/or vacationing adventures we have ever experienced. It is unfortunate that we did not have benefit and insight gleaned from this tour on the first full day of our very first visit to Rome.

Our prior tours had been conducted by natives who seemed like the obvious and logical choices to engage in this type of activity, so I was a little suspect when I first learned that an American was conducting our Food and Market Walk. Again, I was very wrong. Christian Thomas, from California began the morning as our tour guide and ended the afternoon as our friend. He was bright, accommodating and engaging and provided a wealth of information on art, architecture, history and local culture. His Italian was excellent and it was obvious that he enjoyed the respect and friendship of the many individuals we dealt with on our excursion. What became very apparent as the walk progressed is that the American was able to explain much of the history and culture from our prospective, which was extremely helpful.

The four of us did not know what to expect on a Food and Market Walk that commenced at 10:30AM and all made the mistake of having breakfast at our hotel. We assumed that there would be some sampling and tasting of food during this adventure, but absolutely nothing like what we experienced. The quantity and quality of the food and drink we experienced far exceeded our wildest expectations, but that was secondary to the sights, sounds and unique experience provided by this tour. Left to our own devices, my wife and I would have walked past each of the establishments we visited and we now know that we will return to each on our next visit to Rome.

I would highly recommend this trip to anyone visiting Rome and I would encourage them to do so very early in their visit because it provides an excellent foundation for understanding the city and culture. DO NOT EAT prior to the tour and it is highly doubtful that you will want to have dinner that evening. If you have the option for your turn guide, ask for Chris, he is an exceptional young man.

I have visited Rome many times and since it is one of my favorite cities, I decided to go there again this December. I wanted to discover something new and experience a new part of the lovely atmosphere of the city. That is how I ended up finding out about Wine & Food of Rome. The idea of learning more about the food and wine of Rome and tasting amazing delicacies immediately convinced me to book a tour with Evan. Thanks to this half day tour I saw the city and the culture in a completely different way and I learned things about Italian food that I’m now using in my cooking at home. We walked around streets I had somehow missed on my other trips, discovering local markets with an amazing variety of fresh fruits and vegetables. I always knew the most important thing for a healthy and delicious meal are the ingredients and I realized in Rome you will find for sure the best products for your Mediterranean dish. The cook at the charming pizza place we went to magically transforms the dough and simple tomato sauce (with some fresh herbs) into one of the best pizzas I have ever tried. Later we couldn’t miss visiting a traditional gelateria with so many delicious flavors. It was a memorable experience for sure and I strongly recommend Wine & Food of Rome, since only a local professional who loves the dolce vita can show you those hidden special places, amazing tastes and little food & wine shops. Thank you for the great memories and the taste that I still can feel.

The Wine & Food of Rome tour with Christian and Evan was the highlight of my trip to Italy. They took me to some of the most delicious and charming local spots in Rome! This is exactly the way I wanted to discover this city and miss the touristy spots. They were extremely informative and knowledgeable about the city’s history along the tour, which made it that much more enjoyable. I had some of the best pizzas, pastas, cheeses and wines along the way! One of my favorite stops was at a local cheese shop, run by possibly the sweetest man on earth. I visited it a few days later on my own and he recognized me and made me feel like he’d known me for years! What a treat. I can’t wait to go back to Rome and see where Wine & Food takes me on my next visit…

Best guide to Italy ever, to it’s wine and food! We were shown the best parts, restaurants and wine. The
guiding were very personal and interesting.
We did winetour, foodtour, artmuseum, restauranttour and winetasting with lovely dinner afterwards. Everybody loved it! What a week!
    Coming back soon.

The wine and food tour was exceptional! My husband and I decided to book it last minute because we had a free day in Rome before a entire day of tours, and it was worth every euro. We would have never eaten tomatoes, meats, and cheeses directly from the farmers market on our own. Kristian was a great guide and you could really tell his passion for the food we tried. We also got to explore the neighborhood of Trastevere, where we had the best pasta and gelato of our entire Rome experience. Being the “young couple from NY on honeymoon” in the review below, we shared the tour with 6 friends from England who made the day even more special. They were extremely friendly and appreciated the food and wine as much as we did. So much so that we spent the rest of the evening and night with them at a roof top bar and then a fabulous tapas restaurant. I think my husband would agree that even though the tours of the Vatican and Roman Forum were great, this day was our favorite in Rome.

I was fortunate enough to do this dinner on my last night in Rome. We met at the elephant statue next to the Pantheon and walked to the Restaurant there we were escorted to the cellar for an apperitifo and an explanation. We returned to the dinning room and enjoyed a superb 3 course dinner accompanied by wine for each course.
A great group also increased the enjoyment! A great way to end my Roman Holiday!
    Excellent food and atmosphere

Christian from WIne & Food took our group on a tour to meat Roma’s market and food.
The 3 houre tour was the best thing we did in our last vecation in rome.
Everything was very interesting, we loved the food, and meat and the cheeses were the best.
If you are looking for someone to show you around the food shops and food markets of rome – This is the best company.
    Very recommended.

While in Rome for 4 days, our desk clerk at the Rome River Inn recommended this tour and made us a reservation – we had never heard of it and were pleased we were able to get a reservation with such short notice. My friend and I are both foodies and this tour sounded interesting and not terribly expensive.

We had a wonderful time! Kristian met us and, as cited in other reviews, was the perfect guide. Our group consisted of a very friendly family of 5, my friend, and myself – a perfect number.

Kristian’s knowledge of the food customs of Italy was fascinating and his relationships with the small cafes and businesses in Rome led to some one-of-a kind experiences. Altogether it was the perfect way to spend a July morning in Rome.

    Highly recommend!

Me & my fiancé did the night food tour and we both had a great time! Evan, the guide, was very knowledgeable and made the whole experience fun and light-hearted. We’ve never done a tour like this before, but were very glad we did! We went to several places we’d never dare venture, and tried things we’d never think to try! Thanks for a great night!
